Back in April we moved my Grandparents into an assisted living facility where they could receive more consistent physical and medical care than our family could provide, the biggest question afterward was 'What was to become of the house?' If anyone knows my family, you know that we don't let things go very easily...selling is not an option at this point.
I knew that my lease was ending in July and so I offered to my family that I would become the care-taker of this house while also making it my project to restore it to it's former glory. I was naïve in thinking that between April and July we could get it cleaned out...65 years worth of stuff ...and then I would just move on in. I was so wrong. Sure, my stuff is in there, but we are far from done. This blog is going to showcase some snippets of my journey in restoring this old house.
My goal is to keep as many original features as possible while still creating a modern, inviting space that our family could be proud of. This project has been a coinciding dream and nightmare. It's not easy but it will be worth it.
There will be before and after photos and maybe some of my thoughts on this whole process.
